Adrian Speight conjures up a double
Brits got day one in Exloo off to a flying start with Adrian Speight notching up a victory double in Exloo, The Netherlands.
His successful run started in the first class of the day as he guided new ride Happy Boy into a win, the Kannan/Kimball 13-year-old owned by Sue Lincoln claiming a 1.23 sec advantage over fellow Brit James Billington, in second aboard the nine-year-old Golden Boy (Cardento/Lux).
Adrian claimed equal first in the big class of the day on Judith Whitham’s Millfield Baloney. A big entry of 110 tackled the 1.40m two-phase with Adrian and the Balou Du Rouet 14-year-old jumping to the top of the pile but had to share the top spot as The Netherlands’ Stefanie Heins on Silverado equalled his time.
Alice Weightman scored handsomely in the 1* 1.20m speed with Chellthargo PS, a German-bred seven-year-old she has competed for the past two months. Thirty-eight contended this class with Alice easing ahead to win by 0.70 sec. A steadier clear from Sally Hopkinson on Fadograaf finished in 14th place.
