Eoin Gallagher gallops to a win in Spain

Eoin Gallagher seized victory in the gold 1.45m speed with Oakingham Stud’s Di Caprio in Oliva Nova, Spain.

Twenty-one contended this class with Eoin and the eight-year-old Diarado/Cassini I stallion forging ahead to take the win by more than two sec.  Danielle Farnsworth slotted Eline into second spot and Will Edwards on SHW Candies B and Steven Franks with Brutus III returned steadier clears for seventh and eighth.

Kayleigh Watts doubled up with two wins to her credit.  She jumped to the top in the gold 1.40m two-phase on Ninkie De Vy Z.  Fifty-three jumped in this class with Kayleigh and the Nonstop 11-year-old mare winning by 1.10 sec.  Steven Franks eased Abdul Aziz was 2.62 sec in arrears for fifth and steadier double clears from Flo Norris on Kandance Van’t Lozerhof and Mackenzie Ray with Valse De Boguin claimed 14th and 15th.

Brits landed a one-two in the 58-entry silver 1.25m speed, Kayleigh recording her second win of the day on the Quadrillo 12-year-old Harley with 1.83 sec to spare over fellow Brit Jo McGlory with Flaming Key SR Z.  Other Brits were bunched together further down the line – Mark Hallion’s Castle Rock, Elizabeth Baker with Birdy Du Thot, Danielle Farnsworth on Pequena Beech and Bethanie Knight on Topmodel Van Overis Z in in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th while Flo Norris (Czerny N) and Megan (Quissini LS) were also clear to take 16th and 17th.

Kayleigh also rode Kilbarron Rue into third in the 71-entry gold 1.30m speed, the Irish-bred nine-year-old mare finishing 1.92 sec behind the pace.  Eoin on on Flugel M and Flo with Lorielle 2 jumped steadier clears for 16th and 17th.

Kayleigh guided Melvin VD Bisschop (Elvis Ter Putte/Nabab De Reve) into seventh in the 26-strong seven-year-old 1.35m two-phase 3.49 sec off the pace.

Lucinda Roche guided Izar LB into second behind fellow Irish rider Alex Duffy and Big Bange Des Genets in the silver 1.35m speed 1.26 sec in arrears.  Flo was slightly slower for third on Teck De Riverland and Eoin jumped the steadiest clear for ninth on Bigstar Derick.

Bethanie Knight claimed second in the 46-strong five-year-old 1.10m two-phase 0.25 sec behind the winner with Julius.  Jack Stirling rode OS Pomerol into ninth with Megan James (Billy Lincoln and Billy Make Haste), Sophie Garfield-Bennett (Jazzlynn Jillz), Shane O’Meara (OS Le Petit Cheval) and Will Edwards (Edena Mouche) returning double clears for 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 20th.

Megan eased Funisa BH into ninth in the 45-horse six-year-old 1.25m two-phase and Jane Annett (Impala), Madeleine Kellett (I-Bless) and Shane O’Meara (Oakingham Kia The Door) also returned penalty-free for 15th, 17th and 19th.
