Ellen Whitaker outpaced all to take the 2* 1.45m with Jack Van’t Kattenheye in Canteleu, France.
A total of 92 contended this speed class but no-one could match Ellen stride for stride and she galloped into the top spot on the Diabeau 10-year-old for victory by 1.35 sec. Louise Whitaker guided Special Warrior into 10th some five sec in arrears and a steady round from Holly Smith on Hearts Destiny finished 14th.
Nicole Pavitt and Victor Blue claimed their second win of the week in the 1.35m.
Thirty-five tackled this speed class but Nicole has a fantastic rapport with Virginia Quine’s seasoned 17-year-old and they raced ahead to take victory with 1.16 sec in hand. Sean Curran was some 18 sec behind for 10th on Enzo and Anna Wilks provided the steadiest of the clears on Elton Van Het Exelhof to take 12th. Four faults dropped Ellen Whitaker on Hulahupe JR and Holly Smith’s Dakota to 14th and 15th.
Keith Shore guided Djoel into sixth in the 59-strong 2* 1.40m two-phase, the Hamlet 11-year-old finishing just over four sec behind the pace. Holly Smith netted 10th with Denver just ahead of Jess Dimmock in 11th on Billy In Fashion. Alex Barr claimed 16th with Ferrara Durona with Holly in 17th on Flipper Darco UK Z and Jess was also 19th with Haitske.
Tagatha Payne jumped into the top spot of the amateur 1.15m two-phase with The Maharanee. Twenty-two contended with Tagatha and the Radia 14-year-old claiming the win with 1.02 sec to spare. Kate Ward was also double clear on Ears Two for fourth.
Ava Vernon was clear in the 50-horse 1* 1.25m speed for fourth on Here I’m B, the Nassau seven-year-old 1.68 sec off the pace.
Four faults in the speed qualifier after they had posted the fastest time kept Laura Mantel and Sally Jobson-Scott’s Muna VD Bisschop out of the seven-year-old final but the speedy pair topped the seven-year-old consolation at the World Breeding Championships in Lanaken.
Ninety-four contended the 1.40m speed class with Laura and the Cornet Obolensky/Nabab De Reve mare flying into the top spot to win by 1.26 sec. James Billington slotted Harwich VDL (Arezzo VDL/Darco) into eighth place while Lauren Edwards picked up one time fault on Breit Star for 17th spot.
One-time leader James Billington had to settle for second in the 146-entry five-year-old consolation with Jillz, the Denzel V Meulenhof/Calvinos mare finihisng 1.66 sec behind the winner, Ireland’s Kevin Gallagher on ESI La Luna. British-based Irishman Derek McCoppin jumped a steadier clear for 17th on Jordan W.
Emma Stoker guided Q Seven (Quaid/Stakkato) into fourth in the six-year-old consolation, a 1.35m speed competition with 153 starters, the pair finishing 2.86 sec behind the winners. Emily Sage claimed 11th spot on I Am A Harley (Harley VDL/Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve) and Ruby Fryer eased Boss Z (Bisquet Balou V Mispelaere/Diamant Z) into 14th.
In St Tropez, France, Anna Camille Vlasov topped the 1* 1.15m with the only double clear in the three-way decider on the 11-year-old Air Jordan Z daughter Arauca Noesar Z.
A rail down in the 26-horse 4* 1.50m speed put Robert Whitaker and Major Delacour down to 10th spot. And four faults in the 23-horse jump-off of the world ranking 59-strong 4* 1.45m dropped Will Funnell and Billy McCain down to 16th.
