William Funnell seized victory in the evening’s 1.40m on Billy McCain to conclude day one at Keysoe 2* International in Bedfordshire.
Forty-seven contended here and with 22 providing clears it was hot, but William and the Cevin Z/Cruising 11-year-old cruised ahead to win with 1.64 sec in hand. Adrian Speight guided Judith Whitham’s Balou Du Rouet 13-year-old Millfield Baloney into second with Angie Thompson slotting Boogie Woogie into third. Louise Saywell claimed fourth on Jane Heerbeck’s Wettenhall double winner Carolus K DHI ahead of John Crippen on Basic and Jodie Hall-McAteer’s Fantom in fifth and sixth places.
Chris Franks claimed victory in the 1.30m two-phase with Mega Times. Fifty-six started in this class with Chris and The Megabyte/Goodtimes 10-year-old edging ahead to win by just 0.08 sec. Jasmin Head guided the Montender 11-year-old Ma Cherie Z into second with Nicole Lockhead Anderson in third on Manolito P. Amanda Bywater’s Triple Twist finished fourth with Joe Stockdale in fifth on Tornado Des Monts and Flo Norris was sixth aboard Dontella L’Espoir.
Nicole topped a strongly contended 41-horse 1.20m two-phase on the Corland/Purioso 13-year-old B Kaliki with 0.31 sec in hand. Angie Thompson slipped into second on the 13-year-old Cornet Obolensky Junior ahead of Carron Nicol’s Ginadina PP in third. Rosie Gunn took fourth on Jagerbomb with Lance Whitehouse fifth riding Little Lady Van’t Eigenlo and Nina Emery claimed sixth with Colien V.
Julie Slade jumped to the top in the 13-strong 1.10m two-phase on Billy Gogo, the Billy Mexico/La Poco 11-year-old taking the win by 0.57 sec. Tony Pearson slotted the Manhattan 14-year-old Amadeus M into second with Tagatha Payne’s The Maharanee in third. Ruby Pointer filled fourth and fifth places aboard Cuis Ghaire and Dutsy Van Het Hek.
