Shane Breen jumps to a win in Hamburg
Shane Breen cruised round the second 1.50m Derby qualifier for victory on Canya Makan in Hamburg, Germany.
Seven of the 63 starters jumped clear in this speed, Shane and the Canturo 11-year-old stallion claiming the win with a comfortable 1.74 sec in hand. Matt Sampson repeated yesterday’s third place with Holly Smith’s Irish-bred 11-year-old Quality Old Joker 1.92 sec in arrears and Nigel Coupe filled fourth spot on another Irish-bred, the Ricardo Z 16-year-old Golvers Hill. Four faults dropped James Whitaker and Glenavadra Brilliant down to 14th.
Matt Sampson galloped to the top in the eight-year-old with Geneve R. Twenty-five tackled this 1.40m two-phase with Matt edging ahead to win with 0.22 sec in hand on the Eldorado V Zeshoek/Berlin eight-year-old. Michael Whitaker returned a double clear on Freud Del Cabanon Cavalier – Pro to take fifth.
William Whitaker topped the seven-year-old 1.35m two-phase with Mr Cash (Click And Cash/FAN Holland) with 2.82 sec to spare. Shane Breen took 10th on Hollywood.
Scott Brash guided the 12-year-old Hello M’Lord into third in the 27-strong 5* 1.45m speed 2.87 sec off the pace. Michael Duffy was also clear for 10th on Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars.
