Anthony Condon claimed a victory double in St Tropez
Anthony Condon hit a purple patch in St Tropez 4*, France, with the Hales family’s two horses to claim a magnificent double.
Anthony jumped to the top in the 4* 1.50m with SFS Aristio. Only five of the 36 starters came forward to the jump-off with Anthony and the 13-year-old Arko/Voltaire stallion smoothly jumping to the top to win by 1.61 sec.
And British-based Irishman Anthony doubled up in the 1.45m speed with Zira VH Kapelhof Z, the 10-year-old Zurich mare winning by 0.35 sec. john Whitaker was also clear on the 17-year-old Argento – another stallion by Arko – for fourth.
Jake Saywell claimed second place in the 2* 1.45m with Havinia Van De Roshoeve in Hardelot, France.
Twenty-eight contended this speed class with Jake and the Cicero Z/Lacantas 12-year-old finishing 4.38 sec behind the winner, France’s Francois Boudant on Ciento. Charlie Jones eased Dexter into third with the only other clear round. Four faults dropped Tony French’s Finnisk Castor, Graham Babes on Glencoe and Jane Annett’s Hold Up down to seventh, eighth and 11th.
Jake rode Lukas Van De Kievitsdriesen into fourth in the 38-horse 2* 1.35m two-phase 2.54 sec behind the winner. Louise Morley finished ninth on Langgeleden, Jane was double clear on Billy Tudor for 13th and Graham picked up two time faults in the second phase to take 18th on Eccosse.
Jane jumped into third in the 24-strong young horse 1.35m speed with Cliasira BH 4.67 sec behind the pace. Four faults dropped Graham on Ma Fleur JS and Jake’s Cancari V Z down to ninth and 10th.
Kate Ward posted a double clear on Ears Two for fourth in the 1.10m two-phase 0.84 sec off the pace.
