Charlene Bastone sweeps to a victory double on the Baltica tour
Charlene Bastone claimed victory in the six-year-old with Dorie Du Mazet on the Baltica tour in Ciekocinko, Poland.
Forty-two contended this two-phase class with Charlene racing ahead on the Ogano Sitte/Vert Et Rouge mare to win by 0.79 sec.
Charlene also scored victory in day one’s seven-year-old on the Billy Congo/Mill Reef VDL mare All That Glitters TH, taking the 27-strong speed class by 0.41 sec. And the pair posted a double clear in Wednesday’s seven-year-old two-phase to finish sixth 2.14 sec off the pace.
Matt Sampson is well-known for getting a tune out of a catch ride and he did just that with Holly Smith’s Quality Old Joker with third place in the first qualifier for the 4* Jumping Derby of Hamburg.
Seventy-three contended this speed class with Matt and the rangy OBOS Quality 004/Slyguff Joker 11-year-old slotting into third five sec behind the winner, Germany’s Benjamin Wulschner on Bangkok Girl PP.
William Whitaker posted an easy double clear on RMF Charly to take ninth in the 3* 1.45m two-phase. Forty-seven contended with William and the Clearway 10-year-old finishing 2.56 sec behind the winning round of Germany’s Felix Habmann on SIG Captain America.
Shane Breen guided Hollywood (Ukato/Warrant) into second in the 38-strong seven-year-old 1.35m speed 0.46 sec off the pace. William Whitaker was also clear for fifth on Mr Cash (Click And Cash/FAN Holland).
Claudia Moore was best Brit in the pony 1.25m on the opening day of the Dutch Youngster Festival in Wierden, The Netherlands, with Shamrock Du Gite.
Seventy-three contended this two-phase class with Claudia and the French-bred 13-year-old just 0.28 sec off the winning time. Elloise Smit steered Newtown Samson into eighth, Shaunie Greig finished 14th with Casino Royale and Lila Bremenr also jumped a double clear for 20th on Lapislazuli.
Jordan Gann posted foot-perfect rounds in the young rider 1.40m two-phase with Lakeland Dancer to take eighth place, the Riverland Roi 13-year-old mare finishing more than five sec behind the winner. Kellie Taylor was close behind for ninth on the Grandeur 11-year-old Grupello Z in the 72-strong class.
