John Whitaker and Argento are in form in France

John Whitaker guided Argento into second in the 4* 1.40m in Bourg-en-Bresse, France.

Twenty-five contended this two-phase class with John and the Arko 17-year-old finishing 1.85 sec behind the winner, France’s Jean Luc Mourier on Fionapina Colada.

Four faults in the fourth round of the six-bar put Robert Whitaker and Catwalk into equal second with two others.

James Billington jumped a foot-perfect double clear to take fifth in the 2* grand prix of Tubbergen, The Netherlands on Fancy Roos VDL.

Thirteen of the 50 starters made their way to the jump-off with James posting another good clear on the nine-year-old Baltic VDL/Goodtimes mare to finish just over two sec behind the winner, The Netherlands’ Marc Houtzager on Sterrehof’s Dante.

James claimed seventh in the medium tour 1.40/1.45m with Comfortuna VDL in a 15-strong decider, the 10-year-old Berlin/Nimmerdor stallion 2.65 sec off the pace.

Alex Gill contended the 17-horse jump-off of the 1* 1.35m grand prix but four faults dropped the Lux/Indoctro eight-year-old Gutascha to 12th spot.
