Louise Saywell was denied victory by the tiniest of fractions with Feigtling in Maubeuge, France.
Thirty-five contended the 3* 1.35m table C (seconds added for a knockdown) speed with Louise and the Chicago Z 14-year-old just 0.02 sec off the winning time. Harriet Nuttall and Silver Lift were six sec slower for 10th.
Jack Whitaker shared the honours in the six-bar with two others on Elucar VE. The three reached the fourth round where all had one rail down to finish equal first; Jack on Elucar, former Brit Jamie Wingrave now riding for Hungary on Indiana Jones Max and Belgium’s Gilles Thomas with Edison Van Schuttershof.
Jack eased Arlo De Blondel into sixth in Saturday’s 1.50m speed, the Dollar Dela Pierre nine-year-old finishing 2.31 sec off the pace. Harriet Nuttall took 10th on Galway Bay Jed and Christopher Frazer finished 11th aboard Quisandro.
An easy double clear by Hannah Berryman on the Ensor Van De Heffinck eight-year-old Balios Ar Park took fifth in the seven-horse decider of the 1* 1.30m grand prix three sec behind the winner.
Steven Franks posted a double clear on the 21-year-old Carlow Cruiser to ease into 10th spot in the 3* 1.45m 10 sec off the pace.
