Ben Maher captured the top spot in the feature class of Thursday at Royal Windsor, winning the Land Rover 1.45m on Ginger-Blue.
Eleven of the original 35 accessed the jump-off with Ben edging ahead of his rivals to win by just 0.07 sec on the Plot Blue/Royal Bravour eight-year-old mare.
Will Fletcher chased hard to take second on the 13-year-old Persimmon and Charlie Jones slotted Dexter XI into third with the steadiest of the double clears. The USA’s Laura Kraut claimed fourth on Berdenn De Kergane, dropping down the line from a possible victory with a costly rail down. Shane Breen on Deff Ten Halven and Robert Whitaker with yesterday’s 1.40m winner Major Delacour also beat the winning time but again a lowered pole dropped them down the order for fifth and sixth.
Georgia Tame set the day rolling with a flying round in the morning’s 1.35m speed, racing to the top on the Can Ya Makan/Cavalier Royale eight-year-old Z Seven Canya Dance to win by 1.27 sec. Joe Fernyhough guided Calcourt Quicktime into second with The USA’s Julie Welles in third aboard Ambra II. The Billy Stud horses filled the next three places with William Funnell on Billy Kodak in fourth, Josh Hutchins eased Billy Falco into fifth and Pippa Funnell finished sixth on Billy Nala.
