Robert Whitaker claimed the feature Land Rover 1.40m with Major Delacour at a thoroughly wet Royal Windsor.
Twenty-one of the 50 starters provided round one clears on the castle grounds and the jump-off was hard-fought with the top six separated by less than a second. Robert was the quickest of the lot, forging ahead on the Ksar-Sitte 11-year-old to clinch victory by just 0.29 sec over Jay Halim in second on Aragon Z.
Ollie Fletcher netted third spot on Hello Disckoboy DN with Laura Renwick fourth aboard Top Dollar and Lily Freeman-Attwood jumped into fifth on Cor Leon VD VlierBeerz.
Laura was in usual speedy form and claimed a double of wins earlier in the day. She topped the 1.30m with a blistering round in the second half of this single-phase class to win on the home-bred seven-year-old Maverick (Diamant De Semilly/Heartbreaker) by 1.38 sec. Lily guided Karibou Horta into second with Ben Maher taking third on Giga Dance ahead of Morgan Shirley’s Mr MacVicar in fourth.
Four of the 11 contenders reached the jump-off of the Walwyn novice championship, Laura registering her second win, on this occasion riding Claretina. And the in-form Laura swept ahead to take the win on the Clarimo/Caretino six-year-old by 1.24 sec. Ronnie Jones slotted Interstar B into second spot with Pippa Goddard in third with the steadiest of the double clears on Nero Van De Kwade Heyde. Four faults put William Funnell and Billy Pablo into fourth.
William Rekert claimed the Foxhunter with Hot Blue Bird by 0.67 sec from Laura Jackson’s Boulahrouz in second. Adam Ellery guided Helios B into third and Nici Wilson finished fourth on Katie Bell.
