Laura Renwick was in contention for the 3* 1.50m grand prix in Le Touquet, France, with Arkuga until a rail fell.
Only eight of the 50 starters posted first round clears to access the jump-off with Laura looking for a win, but a pole proved costly and the home-bred Arko/Heartbreaker eight-year-old dropped into sixth spot. William Funnell was the slowest of eight riders on one time fault in the first round to take 16th on Billy Buckingham.
William guided Billy Diamo into a lovely double clear in the 3* 1.45m to claim some money.
Ten of the 56 starters contended the jump-off with William easing the Cevin Z/Andiamo nine-year-old into another clear to take sixth almost five sec behind the winner, France’s Thierry Rozier on Star. Four faults dropped Laura and Novita Jovial Z down to ninth.
Polly Shaw eased Why Not Fado into seventh in the 71-strong 1* 1.30m, the 12-year-old Cardenio mare finishing 2.60 sec behind the winner in the 21-horse jump-off. Emma Maguire took 19th on Master Geronimo.
Five riders returned on one time fault in the 1* 1.35m grand prix to be denied a chance in the seven-horse jump-off, including Ella Popely on Diana and Holly Miller with Felicio to take ninth and 10th.
Sarah Borthwick jumped for clear and eight on Larino 13-year-old Blatinka to take ninth in the 11-horse decider of the amateur 1.20m grand prix.
