Karl Robins claims victory in Valencia

Karl Robins jumped to the top in the master 1.40m with Stapleton Mist in Valencia, Spain.

Twenty-three contended this speed but Karl was quicker than them all despite the the Cascane 14-year-old’s handicap of only one eye, and they won with 0.30 sec to spare.

Carmen Edwards hit form to claim a double of wins.  He was victorious in the classic 1.35m two-phase with Geodina HS, the eight-year-old Bodinus/Corland mare taking the win in the 13-horse class by 2.28 sec. 

And Carmen also headed the classic 1.25m speed on the seven-year-old Magic Chanti in a 15-horse class with more than nine sec in hand.  Four faults put Abbe Burchmore Eames and Celtic Dream PSS Z into seventh.

Carmen almost made it a hat-trick in the 16-entry master 1.30m with the Zambesi eight-year-old Tinkas Brook II but had to settle for second when fellow Brit Tania Moody raced to the top on the Flipper D’Elle `4-year-old Reine Du Very to win by 0.44 sec.  Four faults dropped Mark Armstrong and Enjoy to eighth.

Abbe Burchmore Eames was two sec off the pace in the 26-strong master 1.35m speed for second on the 11-year-old Berlin/Carthago Z mare Booming Blue Z.  Carmen was also clear for seventh on the Verdi seven-year-old Happy Valerie.

Callie Chant eased Iburg into second in the six-year-old 1.30m in a six-horse decider, the Vigaro/Habsburg gelding finishing just 0.08 sec off the winning time.  Danny Dunne took third on Indeed (Action Breaker/Calvaro Z) and sixth aboard Isco (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof/Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve). 



In Oliva Nova, Spain, Tony French cantered into second in the 44-strong gold 1.30m speed with Arkol, the 12-year-old Argentinus/Kolibri stallion finishing five sec off the pace.  Christina Gachoud claimed third on the Cayetano L 14-year-old Charity 33 and Remy Ellis finished fourth and sixth on Good Friends and Helsinki while Megan James was also clear for 10th aboard Billy Zingo.


Remy topped the five-year-old in a 32-entry 1.15m two-phase with 0.41 sec in hand on the Paddock Du Plessis/Indoctro mare Volonte.  Laura Jackson posted a steadier double clear for 10th on Jadraque P and Olivia Skinner returned on one time fault to take 15th on Jobijn.

Megan jumped into third in the 12-horse seven-year-old 1.40m two-phase on Calistoga (Askoll Peter Pan/Heartbreaker) with a double clear 0.77 sec behind the pace.

Tony also picked up fifth in the silver 1.25m speed on the Chin Chin 13-year-old Boda RE 4.42 sec off the winning time.  A much steadier clear from Olivia Skinner with Harov finished 20th in the 48-strong class.

Five faults in the 32-horse gold 1.45m speed put Tony and Finnisk Castor into 11th place.

Tom Hollins finished eighth in the 36-entry six-year-old 1.30m two-phase with My Lord George (Lord Luis/Graf Grannus) 5.60 sec behind the winner.  Remy was ninth on Babalou UK and Megan was also double clear on Iomie for 13th.

Chloe Winchester guided the Couleur Rubin/Clinton I 13-year-old Gentleman into an easy double clear in the 47-horse gold 1.40m two-phase to take 10th more than seven sec behind the pace.
