Jake Saywell jumps to a win in Spain
Jake Saywell jumped to the top in the six-year-old 1.25m section A with Irmette Balia PJ in Vejer de la Frontera on the Spanish sunshine tour.
Twenty tackled this speed class with Jake easily dismissing all challenges to win on the Don Diablo/Ustinov mare by 1.39 sec. Lucy Wood guided Idaho WP into fifth, Spencer Roe took ninth on Itamorkus and David McPherson also posted a clear for 12th on No-Comment De Septon.
Anthony Condon eased Lisa Hales’ Barrichello/Magic Darco mare SFS Mirage into second place in the six-year-old section B 0.91 sec off the pace. Donald Whitaker claimed sixth on Message Me TW and Nathan Bull came home penalty-free with Celesta VD Helle Z to take 12th spot in the 26-strong class.
Brits filled the top two places in the 23-entry five-year-old 1.15m speed section B, James Wilson leading the way on Floranche Z with almost six sec to spare over Leonie Aitkenhead aboard Orchis VD Donkhoeve (Carrera VDL/Dulf Van Den Bisschop) in second. Max Routledge clinched sixth place on Joly-Fleur TV and four faults dropped William Rekert on Sharpie TW from second to ninth.
Charlie Jones secured third place in the 26-horse five-year-old section A aboard the Kannan/Indoctro mare Jacquard 3.83 sec behind the pace. Max on Janeiro and Donald Whitaker’s Dynamite TW posted easy clears to take eighth and 11th.
Easy clears in the seven-year-old 1.35m speed section A handed Brits lower placings – Spencer Roe in seventh on Hero VD Akkerhoeve, David McPherson finished 11th on Carl-Heinz B and Harry Charles claimed 14th on Exexel.
Kayleigh Watts slotted Melvin VD Bisschop into seventh in the 27-strong seven-year-old section B with a steady clear more than nine sec behind the winner. Matt Sampson on Crossbar Melloni and Max with Mademoiselle-A returned clears for 10th and 12th.
