Julie Andrews got day one of week two in Gorla Minore, Italy, off to a great start with a win in the big class of the day, the 1.40m speed, with Wilando B.
Eighty-nine contended this speed class but Julie outpaced them all on the Oklund/Topas 16-year-old to win by 1.21 sec. Jason Smith chased hard to collect second place on Galaya Van Hof.
Louise Whitaker posted a steady clear in the six-year-old to take 10th on Ivan (Namelus R/Damiro) 10 sec behind the pace.
In Arezzo, Italy, Joe Clee claimed fifth and seventh in the 24-horse seven-year-old 1.30/1.35m speed with Cassy De La Valiere (Diamant De Semilly/Éclair Du Bois) and Diego Maradonna 111 Z (Der Senaat 111/Action Breaker) more than four sec behind the winner.
Joe eased Princess Sparkle into 13th in the six-year-old 1.20/1.25m speed 11 sec off the pace.
An easy double clear in the 70-strong silver 1.35m two-phase handed Joe Lafayette Van Overis 18th place.
