Graham Babes galloped to the top in the seven-year-old in Vilamoura, Portugal, with Ma Fleur JS to deny Laura Mantel another win on six-time winner Muna VD Bisschop.
Ten of the 21 starters accessed the jump-off with Graham and the Emerald Van’t Ruytershof/Cassini II mare taking a 1.73 sec advantage over second-placed Laura with the Cornet Obolensky/Nabab De Reve mare Muna. Laura Renwick secured fourth on Maverick (Diamant De Semilly/Heartbreaker) with Emma Stoker double clear on Happynes for fifth and eighth on clear and four with Milton.
Emma was 0.99 sec behind the winner for second in the six-year-old 1.25m with Illonois (Zambesi/Cassanova). Brits were bunched together in the 15-horse decider, Laura Renwick took third on Claretina (Clarimo/Caretino) and sixth with Innuendo, Laura Mantel finished fourth with the John and Laura Renwick’s MHS Alabama and seventh on Monks Diarado’s Boy with Daniel Moseley fifth on Cap Falco and Mennell Watson rode Extreem Forest into ninth. Joao Charlesworth was also double clear on Kannabalou and Unbreakable Z for 11th and 12th.
Jackson Reed-Stephenson headed a British top three in the five-year-old 1.10m two-phase, winning with 1.07 sec to spare on the Nabab De Reve/Baloubet Du Rouet mare Obelia VD Bisschop. Howard Ephgrave finished second on Jayley (Don Diablo HX/Phin Phin) with Emma in third on Skylandria Z (Super Trooper De Ness/Indoctro) and Stephen Lohoar guided Jakarta LSH into seventh. Emma also picked up eighth and 11th on Chico II and Carisma II, Daniel Moseley was 10th on Eastwood De Hus, Elliott Dowler claimed 12th aboard Jelly-Bean and Laura Mantel returned the steadiest of the double clears for 13th on SFS Annika.
In Arezzo, Italy, Joe Clee posted a double clear in Tuesday’s 31-horse seven-year-old two-phase to take 11th on Cassy De La Valiere (Diamant De Semilly/Éclair Du Bois). Four faults in the nine-horse decider 24 hours later put the pair into ninth.
Joe claimed seventh in day one’s 40-strong six-year-old 1.20/1.25m two-phase with a double clear on Princess Sparkle (Bravour/New Balance) 3.11 sec off the pace
