Fifteen of the original 58 starters jumped round one clears in this medium tour final to access the jump-off with Jamie and the Vingino/Mermus R 10-year-old mare Ephonie posting another clear to finish third just 0.53 sec behind the winner, Brazil’s Thiago Ribas de Costa on Kassandra Van’t Heike. Louise Saywell was just 0.11 sec in arrears for fourth with the Eldroado Van De Zeshoek nine-year-old Fantastico C in this hotly contended class and four faults dropped Deborah Jackson on Chicca down to 14th.
An on-form Douglas Duffin landed another win with Fan. Victors just 24 hours earlier, the pair raced to the top in the 2* 1.35m speed, the Clinton/Orlando nine-year-old mare taking the win by 0.33 sec. Jamie Wingrove finished sixth with the Carrera VDL eight-year-old Genesis HB Christina Gachoud was 10th on Empire Van Wuitenshof and Tom (Peppercorn) and Louise (Gentleman) took 14th and 15th.
Brits filled three of the top four places in the five and six-year-old 1.20/1.30m, Sam Hutton taking the top spot on Mylord Lady. Only three of the 17 starters with Sam producing the only double clear to win on the Mylord Carthago/Casco six-year-old. Tom Whitaker was quicker but at the expense of a rail on the floor for second with the six-year-old Django De Paulanne (Untouchable/Diamant De Semilly) and Olivia Skinner finished fourth as the fastest of three on one time fault in round one with Costa Del Sol B Z.
Tom steered Pepper Jack into third in the seven-year-old 1.35m. Fourteen of the 32 starters reached the jump-off with Tom on the Peppermill/Polytraum gelding finishing more than four sec behind the winner.
Christina claimed two of the top 10 places in the76-strong 1* 1.30m speed, taking fifth on Cayetano L 14-year-old Charity 33 and 10th aboard the 10-year-old Dacquar CC 1236.
Jasmin Head eased Athene H into second in the 17-strong jump-off of the 1.20m, the Mermus R/Voltaire 14-year-old finishing 0.72 sec behind the pace. Claire Read was hot on her heels for third with Helga and Annabelle Brown claimed sixth with Lissyegan Luise Royale.
Mimi Tarantelli jumped double clear in the 1* 1.10m for fourth on the Ukato nine-year-old Four Roses CMS almost five sec off the pace.
