Jess jumps to the top in Paris

Jess Mendoza jumped to the top in the 2* 1.35m accumulator with joker on Horst Van De Mispelaere at the Longines Paris Masters.

Thirty-three contended this class with Jess and the Wandor Van De Mispelaere 11-year-old clearing the joker with a flourish and taking the win by just 0.12 sec. The USA’s Sophie Gracida finished second on Atlantis B.

Harry Charles and the 11-year-old Victor were part of the winning team Europe against The USA in the 5* Riders Masters Cup with a 25 point lead.

The two-round competition consisted of a first round 12-fence track over 1.50m followed by round two, again a 12-fence track but on this occasion over a table C speed 1.45m. Harry was pitched against Jessica Springsteen in round one, Jessica winning the round. And under 25 representative Harry was beaten by just 0.10 sec by rival Lucas Porter in the speed section.

Four faults in round one of the 5* 1.50m dropped harry Charles and Lordanos Junior to 17th. A wiinner 24 hours earlier, Kevin Staut again hit the top spot in the 10-strong decider with Ayade De Septon et HDC from fellow Frenchman Simon Delestre and Chesall Zimequest in second.

In Lichtenvoorde, Netherlands, four faults dropped Graham Babes and the Valentino 12-year-old Boucheron to third place in the 11-strong jump-off of the world ranking 1.45m.

Joanne Whitaker finished 13th in the 1* small tour 1.20m with It’s Popcorn. Twenty-nine of 81 starters accessed the jump-off with Joanne and the six-year-old Voss daughter posting another clear more than six sec off the pace. Graham Babes picked up one time fault on Ma Fleur JS to take 16th.
