Nicole Lockhead Anderson misses out on a grand prix win by a fraction

Nicole Lockhead Anderson was a fraction away from victory with Gangnam Style in the pony grand prix on the concluding day of the youth competitions at Jumping de Achterhoek in The Netherlands.

Thirty-four initially contended this 1.30m grand prix but only three riders found all the answers to jump clear in round one.  Nicole was the sole British representative on the Irish-bred nine-year-old Gangnam Style and the pair produced another foot-perfect clear to take the runner-up spot 0.36 sec behind the winner, The Netherlands’ Mart Ijland on Fantasia.

Four faults in round one dropped other Brits down the line – Lila Bremner finished sixth with the eight-year-old Lapislazuli, Lily Freeman-Attwood took seventh on Valmy De Treille and Alice Weightman finished 13th with Epapke.  Claudia on Elando Van De Roshoeve and Elsi Jacques with Trevoulter Ladies Man came home on eight apiece.

Claudia Moore celebrated a good show with another victory aboard Shamrock Du Gite.  Winners 24 hours earlier, Claudia and the 12-year-old Shamrock claimed a double in the pony 1.15m on the final day, winning the 60-strong speed class by 3.44 sec.  Cleo Loizzo guided Banner Girl into fifth more than four sec in arrears and Lila Bremner finished seventh on Foxy Lady 55.  Claudia also picked up 11th on second ride Delflip and Elsi Jacques jumped clear for 18th on Dapple Grey Dew Drop.

Four faults in the children-on-horses 1.10m speed dropped Elsi and Sirnunn Diamond Lad to ninth.

Ella Quigley jumped into third in the junior grand prix with Triomphe Kervec.  Eight of the 27 starters posted round one clears to reach the jump-off with Ella and the Kannan/Darco 11-year-old finishing 1.26 sec behind the winner.  Four faults in round one dropped Lily and Alvaro De Reve to 14th.
