The British pony riders landed the top two places in the pony grand prix at Sentower Paek in Opglabbeek, Belgium, with Lily Freeman-Attwood peaking on Valmy De Treille for victory.
Thirty-one initially tackled this 1.30m track but only six provided round one clears with Lily flying into the top spot on the talented French-bred nine-year-old mare to win by 1.77 sec. Claudia Moore filled second spot on the 14-year-old Elando Van De Roshoeve while Cleo Loizzo had to settle for seventh after incurring one frustrating time fault in round one on Destavelars Misty. Four faults put Anoushka Mauree and Miami Moonbeam into 12th spot.
Claudia was a fraction off a win in the pony 1.25m two-phase with Shamrock Du Gite, the 12-year-old finishing just 0.21 sec off the pace. Claudia also picked up seventh on Delflip, four faults in the second phase dropping the Flipper D’Elle 11-year-old down the line. Cleo took 10th place on Banner Girl and Lila Bremner finished in 12th with Lapislazuli.
Harry Charles claimed two top 10 places in the under 25 1.45m, winning with Doulita. Thirty horses contended this speed class with Harry taking the win on the Wittinger VDL 10-year-old mare Doulita with 0.24 sec to spare. Harry also finished 10th on the nine-year-old Chicago’s Boy (Carrico/Caletto I) just ahead of Graham Gillespie in 11th on Celine. Georgia Tame posted the fastest four for 13th on Z7 Caretina.
Graham slotted Kylian Van De Noordheuvel into third in the under 25 1.35m speed, the eight-year-old Thunder Van De Zuuthoeve stallion 1.74 sec behind the pace. Chloe Winchester finished sixth on the Contender eight-year-old Kasstender C and Harry was also clear with Vivaldi Du Dom for 13th.
Oliver Tuff slotted Esgracia into fourth in the junior 1.30m speed, the nine-year-old Warrant/Bergerac mare finishing 3.89 sec of the pace. Sienna Charles eased the Cassini I nine-year-old Bambina into fifth and Lily Freeman-Attwood claimed seventh on the six-year-old mare Hanniemo G. Dylan Perry also posted a clear on Fremont VDL for 10th.
Sienna Charles posted the steadiest of the clears in the junior 1.40m speed with Controe, the Wender R 11-year-old more than eight sec behind the winner. Joe Fernyhough incurred four faults on Fidibus to drop to 12th.
Elsi Jacques jumped into third in the pony 1.15m speed on the eight-year-old dun mare Westward Sunshine almost two sec off the pace. Francesca Young took sixth with the 12-year-old Carnhill Luna and Elissa Hermann also returned a clear for 10th on Never Last.
Four faults in the second phase of the children-on-horses 1.15m dropped Elsi and the Irish eight-year-old Sirnunn Diamond Lad to ninth in the 24-horse class.
Four faults dropped Eleanor Simpson and My Lucky Day from second to eighth in the children-on-horses 1.25m speed.
