Annabel Shields got Wierden off to a good start in The Netherlands, with second in the world ranking class and winning a 1.35m.
Fifty-five initially tackled the 1.45m grand prix qualifier with these reduced to 12 for the jump-off, Annabel and the Hermes De Reve/Burggraaf 10-year-old Carnoneybridge Challenger slotting into second 1.17 sec behind the winner, The Netherlands’ Lennard de Boer on Dento.
After finishing third in day one’s 54-strong 1.40m two-phase, Jonathan Dixon and the Wittinger VDL/Darco 11-year-old Fireball posted clear and four to take eighth.
Annabel jumped to the top in the 2* 1.35m two-phase with Creevagh Carisma. Thirty-five contended with Annabel and the eight-year-old Camiro De Haar Z mare claiming a 1.04 sec advantage. Jonathan eased the Diarado seven-year-old Guus-Geluk into third two sec in arrears.
Sally Hopkinson posted a double clear in the 1* 1.30m two-phase with Crystal Clear for eighth spot more than four sec behind the pace.
Four faults in the second phase of the 1* 1.20m dropped Joanne Dixon on Florentina JI and Annabel Shields with Cartender down to 13th and 14th.
