Louise Simpson jumped into second in the 2* 1.45m grand prix on the final day at Vilamoura, Portugal, with Felix X.
Only eight of the 60 starters reached the jump-off with Louise again producing an immaculate clear on the CS Online/Landadel eight-year-old to finish in the runner-up spot just 0.61 sec behind the winner, Ireland’s Greg Broderick on Westbrook. Will Fletcher posted the steadiest of the double clears for fifth on the 13-year-old Persimmon and Emma Stoker was prevented from joining the jump-off by one time fault in round one for ninth on Townhead Ballulah.
Brits claimed a one-two in the 2* 1.40m speed, Chloe Aston galloping to the top spot on the Padinus 13-year-old Amigo T to win by 2.33 sec. George Whitaker lined up in second on the Billy Mexico nine-year-old Strides Hatton’s Treasure.
David Simpson dropped seven points to finish sixth on the Valentino nine-year-old The Jeweller in the 2* 1.30m accumulator. James Smith was down 10 points for seventh on the eight-year-old mare For Ever.
Will Lewis topped the 1.20m two-phase on Titanic De Moisenais, the selle Francias 11-year-old taking victory by 2.25 sec in the 13-strong class.
Only four contended the 1.10m with Jude Burgess claiming the win on the nine-year-old E with 0.30 sec in hand in a two-strong decider.
