Laura Renwick jumped to the top in the big class of the day in Vilamoura, Portugal, with top ride Bintang II.
Sixty-eight tackled the 1.45m two-phase with Laura typically hitting top geat on the Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Orlando 12-year-old to win by 1.36 sec. Will Fletcher guided Emmerton into sixth on a double clear and also picked up 12th with clear and four on Persimmon. Louise Simpson finished ninth on Chessy 17 on clear and four just ahead of Laura and second ride Dublin V in 10th.
Chloe Aston eased J Adore VD Keihoeve into second in the 31-entry 1.40m speed, the Cicero/Pachat II nine-year-old just 0.31 sec off the pace. David Simpson eased the Verdi eight-year-old First Verdi into fourth. Jude Burgess on Comeback De Fremis and Emma Stoker aboard Everton De Villee returned with more than three sec to spare over the winning time, but both lowered a costly rail to drop to 15th and 16th.
Will Lewis returned triumphant in the 1.20m speed on Titanic De Moisenais, the selle Francias 11-year-old racing ahead to take the class by 0.78 sec. George Whitaker jumped into third on the Billy Congo seven-year-old Lingala with Rachel Williams and Fi Ga Ro also posting a clear for fourth.
George provided the steadiest of the double clears for fifth in the six-year-old 1.25m on Shooting Star (Voss/Indoctro). Clear and four dropped Emma Stoker into sixth on Milton (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof/Heartbreaker) in the six-horse decider.
Jude claimed the runner-up spot in the 1.10m 1.61 sec behind the pace on the Clinton nine-year-old E. Arabella Prior was also double clear in the four-horse jump-off for fourth on the Concorde 11-year-old Brookwood Supersonic.
