Joe Davison jumps to the top in Oliva Nova

Joe Davison finished top of the pile in the 1.45m in Oliva Nova, Spain, with Quentucky Jolly. 

Eighty contended this speed class with Joe outpacing them all to win on the selle Francais 14-year-old with 0.42 sec to spare.  Matt Sampson chased hard for third place on the nine-year-old L’Arc De Triomphe Bois Margot daughter Valse De Pepinvast and William Funnell guided the Cevin Z/Cruising 10-year-old Billy McCain into fourth.  Will Edwards finished sixth on SHW Candies B, Ben Maher eased Concona into eighth with Alison Barton on Roma IV and Pippa Funnell aboard Billy Congo also coming home clear for 12th and 13th.

Matt headed a British top three in the gold 1.40m speed, easing Candy 763 into 1.56 sec victory over Lance Whitehouse on the home-bred Arko/ARD Ohio eight-year-old Whitesparke Blanko.  Kerry Brennan eased the Quidam De Revel 15-year-old Wellngton M into third in this hot, 76-horse class.  Pippa Funnell finished eighth on Billy Blue Bell ahead of Mark Armstrong’s Juharah in ninth and Chad Fellows in 10th on Isida.  Jane Annett rode Billy Du Montois into 13th and a steady clear form Ben Maher on F One USA earned 15th spot.

Brits claimed the top two places in the gold 1.30m two-phase, Alice Watson filling the top spot with E Pilotta, the Baloubet Du Rouet/Pilot nine-year-old winning by the narrowest of margins, just 0.01 sec.  Joe had to settle for second on the home-bred eight-year-old mare Vilenco (Je T’Aime Flamenco/Nabab De Reve) in the 76-strong class.  Jamie Wingrove eased Ephonie P into ninth with Jane Annett on Irco Cruise 10th, Daniella Stapleton was 11th aboard Fire, Deborah Jackson took 12th on Chicca and Christina Gachoud claimed 14th on Calpin Z.

Jane jumped into second in the silver 1.35m speed with Hold Up, the Diarado/Courage II seven-year-old finishing 0.54 sec behind the winner.  Olivia Gent rode the Cascari nine-year-old Rumers Cascari into fifth in the 66-strong class.

Ronnie Jones hit form to take a winning double.  He outpaced all in the silver 1.25m speed on Billy Rhodes, the seven-year-old Cevin Z/Billy Congo stallion racing ahead to win by 1.07 sec over fellow Brits Andrew Davies in second on the 14-year-old Cento mare Centaura.  Reece Oliver guided Cranny Chippy Lady into fifth with Alison Barton seventh on Saphir, Giorgia Distefano finished 11th on Kimba, Jamie Wingrove was 15th on Genesis HB with Adrian Whiteway (Heathfield Merlin) and Remy Ellis (Good Friends) also posted clears to finish 18th and 20th.

And Ronnie topped the five-year-old 1.15m two-phase with GRC Crimson, the Arkansas/Richardo Z mare racing ahead to win by 1.58 sec.  Bethanie Knight guided Lupin (Lupe/Libero H) into fourth with Remy Ellis 10th aboard Babalou VK.  Megan James was 12th on Message Me TW, Jane Annett took 13th with Zomooizo Z, Lucy Wood was 14th on Idaho WP and Luke Barham was also double clear on Deauvilla Van Beeckhof for 15th.

Taisie de Gruchy galloped ahead to take the seven-year-old 1.35m two-phase with Live The Life, the Zanzibar gelding claiming victory with 1.27 sec in hand.  Tony French slotted Finnisk Castor (Yeats/Castor) into third with Anna Wilks fourth on L’Artiste De Toxandra (Toulon/Kashmir Van Schuttershof).  Lucy Townley also returned a double clear on Billy Kodak for seventh.

Ruby Fryer jumped to the top in the six-year-old 1.25m two-phase with Hallmark, the winning by 1.35 sec over Lucy Townley and the Billy Mexico mare Emmylou.  Lucy was also sixth on Billy Mozette just ahead of Jane on Quissini LS and eighth-placed Ronnie with Bonaparte Z.  Pippa Funnell filled 11th place on Billy Galleon and 18th on Billy Hood with Bethanie Knight (Topmodel Van Overis Z), Megan James (Calistoga), Chirs Moorhouse (Je Taime Aredis), Inida Payne (Hamberlane) and William Funnell (Billy Take That) in 14th, 19th, 20th and 21st.
