Scott Brash jumped to the top in the seven-year-old with Hello Franklin in Waregem, Belgium.
Thirty-six originally contended this 1.40m track with eight reaching the jump-off, but Scott cruised ahead on the Billy Mexico/Goodtimes gelding to win and claim a 0.42 sec advantage over Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet on Bresil De Riverland. One time fault kept Michael Lonsdale out of the jump-off and Larga Van’T Zorgvliet finished ninth.
Scott was also in the mix in the 5* 1.60m grand prix but four faults in the 10-horse jump-off dropped Stolzenberg/For Pleasure nine-year-old Hello Shelby down to seventh. Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels claimed victory on Lady Cracotte.
A steady clear in the 5* 1.45m speed put Michael Whitaker and the 10-year-old Billy Z (Burggraaf/Lux Z) into 13th. Gregory Wathelet proved the winner on Eldorado Van Het Vijverhof.
Four faults in the 14-strong jump-off of the 2* gold 1.45m dropped Graham Gillespie from a possible victory with more than a second in hand to seventh with the Acodetto 12-year-old Andretti. Belgium’s Koen Vereecke took the win on Jativia.
Romilly Simmons finished sixth in the 1* 1.10m speed on the Cristallo II/Lord Z six-year-old Avicii 6.67 sec off the pace. Natasha Dunsdon rode into seventh on Bridge Town.
