Steven Franks lands a win in Lier
Steven Franks outpaced all to take the 3* 1.40m in Lier, Belgium, with Abdul Aziz.
One hundred competitors contended this hot two-phase class but Steven had the win sewn up, executing all the tight options to take the win on the Diamant De Semilly 14-year-old with 0.16 sec to spare.
Keith Shore guided his Wettenhall 2* grand prix winner Mystic Hurricane into sixth with Rose Moss in ninth on the 11-year-old Carlos F. James Wilson slotted Eskola M into 11th and Alex Barr was also double clear for 19th on Farreara Durona.
Phillip Spivey jumped into fourth in the 3* 1.30m speed with Cadenza, the eight-year-old Casall/Corrado I stallion finishing more than seven sec off the pace. A steady clear put Keith and Hermes into 21st in the 84-strong class.
Ronnie Jones galloped to a win in the 37-strong 1* 1.10m two-phase on I Candy II, the 15-year-old Candidatus mare claiming a 0.31 sec advantage.
British-based Irishman Shane O’Reilly claimed sixth with the Zandor/Voltaire six-year-old Zerbin VDH Z in the five and six-year-old two-phase 3.22 sec behind the pace. Ronnie Jones was also double clear for 14th on the five-year-old Interstar B (I’m Special De Muze/Ohorn VDL).
