Stacey Willsone claimed a commanding victory in the amateur 1.20m two-phase with Newton Nickel in Crans Montana, Switzerland.
The Wolfgang/Indoctro 14-year-old answered every call in the 17-strong class to gallop into the top spot for Stacey with 3.27 sec to spare. And the pair went on to take sixth in the final day’s amateur 1.25m with the steadiest of the double clears three sec behind the winner.
One very frustrating time fault denied Laura Renwick and Stacey Willsone's Major De La Cour a jump-off chance in the 4* 1.55m Longines grand prix and the pair had to settle for eighth spot. It was still a great result for the Ksar-Sitte 10-year-old who was making a big step up to this level at only his second show with Laura in the saddle.
Belgium’s Wouter Devos claimed victory in the seven-horse decider by 0.65 sec on Tonik Hero.
Four faults dropped Laura and the Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve 12-year-old Bintang from a possible second down to ninth in Saturday’s world ranking 4* 1.45m in the 21-strong jump-off. Holly Smith posted clear and eight on Quality Old Joker to take 20th.
Laura’s home-bred seven-year-old Arkuga (Arko/Heartbreaker) jumped into fifth spot in the 4* 1.40m speed and handiness to finish 4.68 sec behind the pace.
Jason Smith claimed sixth with maximum points in the 4* 1.40m accumulator with Joker on Galaya von Hof, the Galaya La Silla 11-year-old more than four sec off the pace.
