Louise Simpson races to a win in Lier

Louise Simpson has claimed the ride back from husband David on Unex Cognac IV to maximum effect, and after taking second earlier in the week in Lier, Belgium, headed the 2* 1.40m two-phase. 

Eighty-nine contended this class with Louise and the Unaniem 11-year-old taking a 0.70 sec victory.  David Simpson slotted Chessy 17 into fifth and Jess Mendoza was also clear on new ride Kay for ninth.


Joe Clee featured in the top-billed world ranking 1.45/1.50m with Alzu Ohio.  Eleven of the 67 starters claimed a place in the jump-off with Joe and the Optimum VD Wellington 15-year-old posting another clear to take fourth 0.99 sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Thibeau Spits on Bellissimo Z.

Holly Smith was also double clear on the Zambesi eight-year-old Fruselli for eighth and William Whitaker came home on clear and four to take 11th on Ilusionata Van’t Meulenhof.  Louise on First Colt and Phillip Spivey with Smirnov posted four faults in round one for 16th and 18th.


Holly posted a double clear to take fourth in the 1.30/1.35m two-phase on Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill, the Shannondale Sarco St Ghyvan/Olympic Lux eight-year-old finishing 2.28 sec off the pace.  Joe was also penalty-free for 21st on EOS in the 75-strong class.


Four faults in the 13-strong jump-off of the six-year-old put Joe and the Diamant De Semilly daughter Cassy De La Valiere into seventh place.  Lee Williams posted clear and 10 faults for 12th on TJ Calon Lan.

Clear and eight dropped William and Liarada S (Diarado/Carthago) to 13th in the seven-year-old.  One time fault in round one put David and Starouge into 15th.
