William Whitaker is denied victory by half a sec in St Gallen
William Whitaker steered Fandango into second in the 1.50m speed and handiness in St Gallen, Switzerland.
Thirty-eight tackled this twisty track with William and the Last Liberty 15-year-old finishing 0.58 sec behind the winner, Switzerland’s Werner Muff on Cosby.
Holly Smith was in typically speedy style on the OBOS Quality 004 10-year-old Quality Old Joker but a rail down added four sec to their time and they dropped to seventh just ahead of the USA’s Katie Dinan in eighth on Holly’s former top ride Dougie Douglas. Billy Twomey also returned on four to take 11th on Ardcolum Duke and Sam Hutton’s steady clear on Aramis 573 finished 12th.
Louise Saywell guided the Lord Z nine-year-old Lady Lou into fifth in the world ranking 1.50m. Sixteen of the 40 starters accessed the jump-off with Louise and Lady Lou finishing 3.10 sec behind the winner, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat on Corbinian.
