Harriet Nuttall takes a podium place in the grand prix of Switzerland
Harriet Nuttall claimed a podium place in the Longines grand prix at St Gallen 5* in Switzerland with A Touch Imperious.
Only two posted first round clears over a big and technical track with Harriet one of three on one very frustrating time fault. They were joined in round two by the fastest of the four-faulters to make 13 in the jump-off.
Harriet kept her cool over the enormous track to jump a great clear on the Touchdown/Cavalier Royale 14-year-old to slot into third place.
“He’s scopey and really a Derby specialist but he also loves a Grand Prix. We’re now building up for the Hickstead Derby but I couldn’t be happier with how today has gone”.
Portugal’s Luciana Diniz claimed victory with the only double clear aboard top mare Fit For Fun 13. Switzerland’s Beat Mandli – also on one time fault from round one – beat Harriet for second place on Dsarie with a round two clear 1.56 sec ahead.
Holly Smith on Hearts Destiny and Billy Twomey aboard Kim Barzilay’s Kimba Flamenco both incurred four faults in round one to take 16th and 19th.
Louise Saywell jumped Billy Twomey’s Lady Lou into fifth in the 5* 1.45m. Ten of the 64 starters made their way to the jump-offwith Louise posting another clear on the Lord Z daughter to finish2.63 sec behind the winner, Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer on Balou Rubin R. Four faults in round one dropped Holly and Claddagh Iroko out of contention.
