Joe Clee takes the world ranking class in Lier

Joe Clee claimed victory in the world ranking 1.45m in Lier, Belgium, with Alzu Ohio.

Only 12 of the 86 starters made it to round two, but Joe took charge to forge ahead on the Optimum VD Wellington 15-year-old to take the win with 0.61 sec in hand. Belgium’s Dirk Demeersman and Justice Van Het Reigershof settled for second spot. Graham Babes was also double clear on the 12-year-old Boucheron for fifth spot. Peter Moloney proved the fastest four-faulter in round one to take 14th on Ghana.

A double winner on day one, Graham Babes maintained his form to claim another double of wins 24 hours later. The talented mare Ma Fleur JS (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof/Cassini II) repeated her six-year-old win, racing ahead to take the top spot with 1.58 sec to spare. Joe was also in the mix here, taking second on Caretoo (Catoo/Caretino).

Graham jumped to a win with Cluedo II in the 66-horse 1.20m speed, the Caretino/Contender nine-year-old claiming a 0.90 sec advantage.

Jo McGlory eased Darcobal Fravanca into fifth in the 45-strong 2* 1.30m speed, the Darco/Baloubet Du rouet 15-year-old six sec off the pace. Joe posted a steadier clear to take 13th on the Wittinger VDL nine-year-old EOS.

Katinka Brogaard slotted the Calvados nine-year-old Entertainer into third in the six-strong 1.10m jump-off 0.46 sec behind the winner.

Katinka returned a double clear in the five-year-old for fourth with Begonda Z (Big Star Jr K Z/Massimo) 0.78 sec off the pace.

Peter Moloney jumped a steady clear in the seven-year-old speed for seventh on the President/Diamant De Semilly stallion Federal TH 5.43 sec behind the winner. Helena Cassir was also clear on Landlord O to take 14th spot.
