George Whitaker lands the 3* grand prix in Korea
An invitation to jump in Korea paid dividends for George Whitaker.
George quickly built a rapport with borrowed horses in Hongcheon, Korea, and excelled to land the 3* 1.45m grand prix on Stakkato’s Special.
The competition went to three rounds with eight of the 20 starters posting double clears to access the jump-off. George quickly got the measure of the Stakkato/Grosso Z stallion Stakkato’s Special – only an eight-year-old – and the pair galloped ahead break the beam with 0.81 sec to spare and seal victory.
Japan’s Tadahiro Hayashi took second on the Diamant De Semilly 14-year-old Etoile De La Vie.
George also picked up fourth in the 3* 1.35m table C speed (seconds added for a knock-down) on the 11-year-old Via Odessa (Valentino 240/Graf Grannus) 1.53 sec behind the pace.
