Sam Hutton takes a win in Kronenberg
Sam Hutton rode to the top in the 2* 1.35m on Kandy Hof Ter Zeedycke at de Peelbergen, Kronenberg, The Netherlands.
Sixteen of the 43 initial contenders reached the jump-off with Sam and the Cabrio Van De Heffinck/Nonstop eight-year-old taking a 0.33 sec win. Alex Barr returned on clear and four with the Kojak 12-year-old Bettilina for eighth.
Jess Mendoza jumped into third in the 1* 1.30m grand prix on Supreme Du Bois Aile. Nine of the initial 48 accessed the jump-off with Jess and the Iowa 12-year-old finishing 0.72 sec behind the pace. Ten riders returned on time faults only, including Ireland’s Anthony Condon on SFS Aristio for ninth, Alex and Falco took 12th on one time fault apiece with Sean Curran coming home with two faults on Enzo for 19th.
Twenty of the original 55 in the 2* 1.45m grand prix contended the jump-off with Scott Brash guiding the promising nine-year-old Hello Jefferson (Cooper VD Heffinck/Irco Mena) into seventh with an easy double clear more than 11 sec behind the winner, Germany’s Katrin Eckermann on Caleya. Amy Inglis returned on four faults with Wishes to put the Guidam 10-year-old into 11th.
Scott also picked up second in the six-year-old aboard Hello Zachary, the Elvis Ter Putte gelding finishing 0.55 sec behind the pace. Sam Hutton took 11th on Domino De Muze Z, Jess Mendoza was 12th on Heat of the Night and Alex Barr was also double clear to claim 13th and 15th with Mandelay Bay III and Havall.
Leonora Smee topped the 1.35m special with Waltons Top Flight, the Oklund 15-year-old claiming victory with 1.21 sec to spare. Christina Gachoud was also double clear for sixth on the Cicero Z nine-year-old Calpin Z.
Paul Bevan and the consistent Vittorio/Voltaire 11-year-old Coco Vittorio claimed fourth in the 1.30m special, 2.31 sec behind the pace. Jess rode Sam De Bacon into ninth on a total of three time faults.
