William Whitaker was just a fraction of a sec away from winning but had to settle for third in Friday’s world ranking 2* 1.45m in Lier, Belgium, on Lammy Beach.
Sixty-four contended this speed class with William on the Beach Ball/Coevers Diamond Boy eight-year-old Lammy Beach – a former ride of Holly Smith – finishing 0.29 sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Wilm Vermeir on Hacienda D’Eversem. David Simpson guided Unex Cognac IV into eighth with Rose Moss in 18th on Carlos F.
David jumped Chessy 17 into third in the 2* 1.40m speed, the 14-year-old Cellestial/Kolibri mare just 0.30 sec behind the pace in the 70-entry class. Sweden’s Emma Emanuelsson on Coralle took the win. David also took 10th on Fifa Paola with Jay Halim in 15th on Aragon Z just ahead of Sarah Lewis aboard Doonaveeragh Emma.
And David eased Curly Sue 163 into eighth in the 2* 1.35m two-phase, the Coupe De Coeur 2 11-year-old finishing three sec behind the pace. William was also double clear for 13th on Justin Van De Zandhoeve with Georgia Tame posting a similar round on Clintofino for 16th.
Chloe Coward topped the 57-strong six-year-old speed with the consistent H Blokx (Der Senaat III/Placido), winning with 3.45 sec in hand.
Rose Moss picked up eighth in the 1.30m speed on the Flipper D’Elle 10-year-old For Sienna Z, almost eight sec off the pace. Louise Simpson returned a steadier round on The Jeweller for 11th and Lauren Turnbull incurred just one time fault on VIP for 18th.
Rose also finished ninth in the 1* 1.20m two-phase with the Rash R 15-year-old Weston almost five sec behind the pace. Adam Cove claimed 14th on Wendy Woo and Louise was also double clear on Diarados Black Diamond for 20th place.
