Chloe Winchester hits the top on the Spanish sunshine tour
Chloe Winchester topped the big tour B section B 1.40m speed on Ragga Muffin, the Calvaro Z/Diamond Lad nine-year-old finishing an impressive four sec in front of her 62 rivals. Faye Adams slotted Zaire into ninth with Richard Howley (Ayemonte BG Z) and Joe Whitaker (Diola) also clear for 21st and 22nd.
Dan Neilson eased Cirrus into fourth in the section A 1.40m, five sec behind the pace. Harriet Nuttall guided Dulf into eighth with Phillip Miller 18th on Warratino and Leonie Aitkenhead slotted Jimmy Mack V Berkenbroeck into 20th.
William Funnell was 1.75 sec off the pace in the small grand prix to take third on Billy Congo/Cevin Z 10-year-old Billy Fanta. Fourteen of the 59 starters produced round one clear to contend the jump-off, won by Turkey’s Derin Dermirsoy on Dadjak Der Puttenen. Four faults dropped Tom Whitaker and Ebelina W and Jay Buxton’s High Offley Arturos Catch to 10th and 12th while Harry Charles returned clear and eight for 13th on Victor.
Harriet Nuttall eased the Irish-bred 13-year-old Silver Lift into second in the big tour A2 1.35m two-phase to finish just 0.42 sec behind the winner. Faye Adams claimed fifth with Demograaf with Jake Saywell eighth on Fantastico C just ahead of ninth-placed Ben Walker on Native Warrior. Chloe finished 12th on The Dude with Charlotte Ash 13th aboard Ideal S.
Chloe also featured in the big tour A1 1.30m with Sportsfield Our Clare, but had to settle for second as Holly Smith raced to the top on the 12-year-old April IV to win by 2.63 sec. Antonio Marinas Soto took third place on the podium with Victoire Landaise with Leonie Aitkenhead on D.Millfield Darin in fourth and Matt Sampson in fifth on Billy Republic. Phillip guided Warriors Creme into ninth with James Davenport 12th on One Atlantic Wave, Faye Adams in 16th and 18th on Jackpot VI and Fiva La Diva and Jordan Gann took 19th on Aymara Vant Ameldonk.
Abbe Elliott (nee Burchmore Eames) claimed third in the medium tour C 1.40m, Wilandri E crossing the line 1.48 sec behind the USA’s Alexandra Taylor, who claimed the top two places on Ryanair De Riverland and Gipsy King. Kayleigh Watts slotted Colton Playtime into seventh, James Wingrave now riding for Hungary took 12th on Robinson Kerarrouan with Allana Clutterbuck 13th on Urlevent Du Bary, Tim Wilks in 14th on Kay and Carron Nicol 15th aboard Nistria V/D Winning Z.
Brits filled the top two in the medium tour B 1.35m with Charlie Jones speeding ahead to top the 103-strong speed class on the Clearway/Lasino 11-year-old Clear Lasina. Kayleigh had to settle for second 1.49 sec in arrears on Fashion V and Tim slotted Exclusive into fifth. Laura Robinson was seventh on Kin Kong with Carron Nicol ninth on Finnegan D, Ashlee Harrison 14th aboard Atout Des Trambles, Abbe Elliott’s Booming Blue Z took 16th and Tara McDonald rode Fygo Von D Ouwe Grint into 17th.
Polly Gredley was just 0.26 sec off the pace in the medium tour A 1.30m two-phase to take second on Unex Arantos behind Ireland’s Paul Beecher on Asti 71. Kayleigh finished seventh on Ebriolita with Joanne Whitaker 13th on Areba II, Simon Buckley 17th on Katie and Max Routledge in 21st on Centos Girl.
Polly was on form in the small tour C 1.25/1.30m, claiming victory in the 57-strong two-phase on the Quick Star 16-year-old Unex Omega Star by the narrowest of margins – just 0.01 sec. Andrew Davies guided Denver V into fourth with Orla Morris right behind in sixth on Adonis. Georgie Crumley picked up 13th on Renkum Centre Star and Abbe Elliott was also double clear on Javko Du Flory for 18th.
Brits filled four of the top five places in the small tour A 1.05/1.10m with Stacey Willsone 0.33 sec in front on Steady The Helm for victory over fellow Brit Jake Ward and Frederick VII. Kyle Bedford filled fourth and fifth places on Polly Em and Georgie Ricci and Alice Codd took seventh aboard Wisbeach Condos Joy.
Kerry Grimster steered Boombastic into third in the small tour B 1.15/1.20m speed three sec off the pace. Alice Codd jumped into seventh on Seapatrick Dougaleena just ahead of Polly and Unex Clintan MB in eighth. Sarah Borthwick picked up 10th on Farianne and Kyle Bedford took 19th on Delaroche Glenniston.
