Rowan Willis landed the biggest win of his career with his consistent mare Blue Movie, taking a commanding victory in the 5* $265,000 Longines grand prix of Ocala, USA.
Only four of the 41 starters reached the jump-off with round one clears, but British-based Australian Rowan took charge with British-bred 12-year-old by Chacco Blue and out of the Pilot mare Showtime – a winner on the International stage for Nick Skelton – to win with 0.73 sec in hand.
The USA’s Devin Ryan had to settle for second aboard Eddie Blue and Brazil’s Rodrigo Lambre claimed third on Velini a Cheers Cassini/Kigali 12-year-old bred by Simon Davies and a former ride of Charlotte Platt and Michael Whitaker. A rail down in round two dropped British-based American Laura Kraut to fourth with Confu.
