Rose Moss had a good first day in Lier Belgium, with a win and several places.
She raced to the top in the 2* 1.30m speed on established partner Weston, the 15-year-old Rash R/Voltaire gelding taking victory with 0.45 sec in hand. Kate Whitaker guided the Singapore nine-year-old Eunomia into third 0.73 sec in arrears and Rose also picked up ninth with second ride For Sienna Z.
And Rose also took fifth in the 2* 1.40m grand prix qualifier with Carlos F, the Ol Metta/Burggraaf 11-year-old’s steady round finishing almost nine sec behind the winner in this 41-strong speed class which produced only six clears. Four faults dropped Robert Whitaker and Contendro Star down to 20th place.
Joe Clee jumped into sixth place in the second of the 1.40m classes - split into two sections due to the 80+ entries – with the Corland eight-year-old Fusion. The pair finished 7.69 sec behind the winner in the 40-strong class. Robert Whitaker was also clear on the Verdi 11-year-old Cash Sent to take eighth.
Rose also claimed seventh in the seven-year-old two-phase with the Billy Congo seven-year-old African Affair, finishing 3.48 sec behind the winner. Clear and four put Kate Whitaker into 16th on Val De Vauxelles Z. Also finishing on a total of four faults over two rounds was Joe Clee on Lafayette Van Overis and Larga Van’t Zorgvliet and Rose with second ride ICB Darc Cavalier for 19th, 20th and 21st.
Joe returned the steadiest of the clears in the 1.20m two-phase to claim 13th place on the Zambesi seven-year-old Glenn.
