November 16, 2017

Allana Clutterbuck dominated the pony 1.20m two-phase on day one at Sentower Park’s youth festival in Opglabbeek, Belgium with two of the top five places.

Forty-nine contended here but Allana found all the shortcuts in the second phase to secure victory on new ride Tekila Du Bary, the French-bred 10-year-old mare winning with 0.21 sec in hand.  And Allana also picked up fifth on Sue Evans’ Atomic Du Bary (pictured), the Frascator Mail seven-year-old who took second in the HOYS pony Foxhunter final finishing 1.29 sec behind his stable-mate.

Ellie Hall-McAteer rode the amazing 19-year-old Tixylix into 15th with Ella Quigley on Clemens 43 in 17th.  Also posting double clears was Antonia Platt (Sligo Furistos Flight) and Lila Bremner aboard Lapislazuli while Tahnia Jordan-Jones on her HOYS pony newcomer and Foxhunter champion Jumper returned on one time fault and Claudia Moore with Elando Van De Roshoeve picked up three.

Ben Clark eased Jancovica into third in the 58-strong junior 1.25m, the eight-year-old Thunder Van De Zuuthoeve daughter finishing more than two sec behind the winner, the Netherlands’ Julia Engelsman on the 19-year-old Darco stallion Rusedski II – a former ride of Robert Whitaker.

Ben also claimed fifth on the Cavalier/Carthago 15-year-old Valentino and Flo Norris rode into ninth on Imago VD Heffinck.  Perdi Digby jumped into 14th on Highland Cruiser – the usual ride of Harriet Nuttall – and also jumping clear was Ellie Hall-Mcateer (Chicobello) for 19th, Tabitha Dean (Ibrador Van De Rhamdia Hoeve) and Jodie Hall-Mcateer (Ninkie De Vy Z).

Jodie picked up 11th in the under 25 1.35m on Coquin Du Coquerie Z, the eight-year-old stallion posting a steady double clear in this speed class to finish 12 sec behind the pace.  Lulu Warren returned the steadiest of the clears in this 42-strong class for 13th on the nine-year-old Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve daughter Dera B.

Sixty-four contended the junior 1.35m two-phase with Flo Norris guiding Super D Yieux coming home on a steady double clear for 17th.  Ellie also came home penalty-free with 16-year-old Dazzle II for 18th.

Clear and four in the under 25 1.40m two-phase dropped Lulu and the nine-year-old Deltina into 20th spot.
