Louise Whitaker takes victory in Mijas

Louise Whitaker jumped into the top spot of the master 1.40m with Di Lampard and Dietmar Ackermann’s home-bred Ruby VIII.

Sixty-nine initially tackled this class with 17 gaining access to the jump-off with round one clears, the on-form Louise claiming two of the rides.  And Louise proved unbeatable with the Balou Du Rouet 10-year-old – out of the Adieu Z mare Equity, a former top ride for Di – winning with 0.66 sec in hand.

Louise also posted the steadiest of the double clears on the Berlin nine-year-old Leen OL for fifth.

And Joe Veitch also registered a British win, repeating his victory of 24 hours earlier in the premium 1.20m on the coloured Unbelievable Darco 10-year-old Nibors Aston, heading the 34-strong speed class by 0.91 sec.

Joanne Whitaker was also clear on Areba II for ninth place while four faults dropped Nadine Breuer and Eletta down to 17th.

The rest of the days classes were postponed until Thursday, 9 November except the master 1.35m which is now scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, 5 November.
