Lily Freeman Attwood and Lila Bremner claim wins at Solihull
Lily Freeman Attwood gave her ponies a trip out before HOYS, and landed the Blue Chip Pro sparkle JC/JA and took second in the HorseQuest UK coral at Solihull.
Eight posted first round clears in the sparkle JC/JA handicap, Lily on one of the two JA’s to jump clear, and used her final draw to secure victory with the eight-year-old Valmy De Treille – a finalist in the pony showjumper of the year at HOYS.
Lucy Gilder jumped into second on her JC Silver Spirit II and Molly Heaps took third aboard MJ. All eight gained qualification to the Blue Chip final – Henry Marshall on Montie XX and Who’s Smudge It, Lily on second ride Capabilty Brown, Sophie Phillips aboard Valentino Supreme and Imogen Marmont’s Tequila Sunrise.
Lily and the six-year-old Capability Brown – HOYS newcomer and Foxhunter contenders next week – also finished second in the HorseQuest UK coral to clinch Blue Chip qualification.
Lila Bremner secured the top spot here with her penultimate draw on the seven-year-old Lapizlazuli, winning by 2.34 sec. The pair had just missed out on HOYS with several close finishes in the newcomer and Foxhunter second rounds.
“It’s our aim for next year,” said Lila, 14, a St Mary’s of Calne boarding school pupil.
Also taking qualifying places was Eloise Burden, in third on Coolatooder Liath and fourth-placed Eve Stokes aboard Park Chanel.
Charlotte Hall used her penultimate draw to claim victory in the pony newcomers/1m open in a 10-pony jump-off. They finished with just 0.27 sec to spare.
Eloise Burden rode her Scope Festival champion Beech Hill Arthur into second place and Lila Bremner filled the next three places, taking third on Uncle Patsy, fourth on Foxy Lady 55 and fifth with Lapislazuli – all posting double clears.
Nell Attwal topped the pony British novice with Gooig Thunder, claiming victory by 1.25 sec. Daisy Garrad took second spot on Orchids Roseta with Saskia Mohan and Ballyerk Colbair in third.
Olivia Pitt headed the 80cm open with Serina, jumping ahead of second placed Lucy Douglas-Jones aboard Sandlings Outstanding Account by just 0.19 sec.
Lucy went on to take the pony discovery/90cm open with Kantjes Zamontinaro, winning by 1.35 sec. Olivia Hubbard guided Fortland Gypsy into second with Ella Hall taking third and fifth with Calusa and Popies Pop Star, sandwiching Annika Courtney and Rowhill Dundee into fourth.
