Robert Whitaker is in the mix on day one in Lausanne

Robert Whitaker was best Brit on day one in Lausanne, Switzerland, guiding Cash Sent into second in the 5* 1.40m speed. Forty-five contended this opening 5* class with Robert and the Verdi 10-year-old Cash leading the way until the late round of Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano on Carlotta racing ahead to win by 1.28 sec.

Ben Maher jumped the Quaprice Z nine-year-old Don Vito into fifth with British-based American Laura Kraut immediately behind in sixth on the Codex One eight-year-old Curious George. A steady round from Michael Whitaker and Con Man JX returned three faults for 14th spot.

Five faults in the under 25 1.35m speed dropped Lucinda Roche and WCE Falco down to 13th.
