Joe Whitaker is in the money in Roosendaal

September 1, 2017

Joe Whitaker, winner of six classes in week one of Roosendaal, Netherlands, had to settle for second in week two on the six-year-old mare Fairy Tale in the young horse 1.30m speed.  The pair finished 2.80 sec behind the winner.  James Billington was also clear for 12th on the Quadros 3/Acolord six-year-old Quatre Bras VDL.

Joe also jumped a steady clear on the eight-year-old Evita W (Arezzo VDL/Matterhorn) for 14th in the 2* 1.35m two-phase.  Jonathan Dixon posted clear and four on Gantico to drop down the line.

Clear and four in the 2* 1.45m dropped British-based Irishman Richard Howley and James Billington down the order. Twelve of the 61 starters posted clears to access the jump-off but a rail down for Richard put the Arezzo VDL eight-year-old Electra B into seventh. James suffered a similar fate on the 11-year-old stallion Baltic VDL (Quaprice Bois Margot/Jus De Pomme) with four faults in the jump-off for eighth.

Portugal’s Mario Wilson Fernandes and Tidelio Des Nauves took the win. Paul Bevan was one of seven on one time fault to be denied a jump-off chance with the talented nine-year-old Deangelo and they took 14th.

Richard finished seventh in the 2* 1.40m two-phase with the 10-year-old stallion Tango Du Valdecie with a steady double clear eight sec behind the pace.

A steady double clear in a 73-strong hotly-contended 1* 1.30m two-phase put James Billington and the nine-year-old Daranta into 25th. Vicky Bevan on Denzel II and Joe Whitaker’s Billyjean posted clear and four to drop down the line.
