Joe Whitaker takes a double in Roosendaal

Joe Whitaker was on top form at Roosendaal, Netherlands, claiming a victory double on day two.

It was Joe’s second 1.40m win here on Lavarno, just 24 hours after the first. Forty-five tackled this two-phase class with Joe taking the win with 1.04 sec in hand on the home-bred Locarno 10-year-old mare. And Joe’s former ride Lola V – another by Locarno – finished fourth with new rider Ibrahim Hani Bisharat for Jordan.

The talented Virginia stepped up to the place in the Roelofsen Trucks 1.45m, enthusiastically tackling the 12-strong jump-off for Joe, but the Centauer Z 12-year-old broke the beam at exactly the same time as The Netherlands’ Johnny Pals on Vignet, and they had to share the top spot.

Joe eased Fairy Tale into fifth in the young horse 1.30m speed, the six-year-old mare finishing almost three sec behind the pace. Also clear was Tamarin Christie on Lexus Van Het Speienhof for 12th and Claire Salem’s Chablis De Eros in 14th.
