Jane Annett scores a double in Fontainebleau

Jane Annett doubled up on day two in Fontainebleau, France.

Jane galloped to a win in the 2* 1.35m two-phase with Pallas Masterclass, the Harlequin Du Carel/Able Albert 10-year-old claiming victory by 1.69 sec. A slow double clear for Yazmin Pinchen and Ashkari took 16th.

Brits scored a one-two in the six-year-old speed, Jane taking the top spot on Hold UP (Diarado/Courage II) to win by 0.1 sec from Jess Dimmock’s Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Billy Mexico mare Billy Fleance. Nicole Pavitt guided Goldstar (Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Waitaki) and Gianni HC (Padinus/Landon) into fourth and fifth.

Nicole went on to win the seven-year-old speed with Cornet (Colestus/Maracaibo) with 1.56 sec to spare over fellow Brit Bethanie Knight on Foss (Boss/Calvados). British-based Irishman Michael Duffy took seventh on Castleforbes Angelina and Bethanie also picked up 11th on Cassalfino.

Beth Mantel improved on her day one second place with victory aboard Caoimhes Delight, the 13-year-old mare racing ahead to win the amateur 1.10m by 1.57 sec. Clears came thick and fast with Tina Guppy on Twiglet in ninth, Nicola Shearman took 12th on Media Man and Ellie Mantel’s Nikko and Will Edwards on Rukkato finished 15th and 16th.

Lowri Ball matched Beth’s win in the amateur 1.20m, driving the seven-year-old Kandia Van De Brouwershoeve to a 0.43 sec victory. Victoria Garfield-Bennett on Rapho Ella and Jessica Blatchford with Chennai provided steadier clears for 11th and 12th.

The amateurs were on fire, and Alex Bishop made it a hat-trick of British wins in the amateur 1.15m with Ziezoo G, the Quattro/Heartbreaker 13-year-old claiming a win by 0.94 sec. Madeleine Kellett guided Ella VI and Zwalbe into sixth and seventh with Freya Mileham 12th on Pauldarys Cloud Nine and Freya Hough in 14th on Frensham.

Amy Inglis slotted Every Way into second in the 1* 135m speed, the Upsillon Van De Heffinck/Beach Boy 13-year-old finishing 1.35 sec behind the pace. Steady clears from Tim Stockdale on Don Diego De Plata and Lulu Warren’s Deltina earned 15th and 18th.

Tim rode into sixth in the 2* 1.40m speed, Colin Garratt’s Flipper D’Elle 10-year-old Tornado Des Monts finishing two and half sec behind the winner, France’s Olivier Guillon on Uladine Des Nauves. Steven Franks on Abdul Aziz and James Wilson with Eskola M finished 16th and 18th with steadier clears.

Heather Larson picked up 12th in the 2* 1.30m speed on the 11-year-old Dunia LA. Yazmin Pinchen incurred one time faults on Van De Vivaldi for 15th.

Lulu Warren slipped into ninth in the 1* 1.25m on the Ultimo/Goodwill 12-year-old Alex V/D Molen just over three sec away from the winner. Lulu also picked up 15th on Dera B and Sophie Garfield-Bennett took 20th with Cirmosa. Also double clear was Sophie on second ride Kanga Rouge and Ben Clark’s Jancovica.

A steady round in the 1* 1.30m speed earned Jane Annett 16th on the El Thuder/Hamilton III eight-year-old Lord Thuder.
