Michael Whitaker features in the 3* Knokke grand prix

Michael Whitaker is quickly establishing a partnership with Calisto Blue and claimed fourth in the 3* 1.55m grand prix in Knokke, Netherlands. 

Only nine of the 59 starters jumped first round clears to access the jump-off, with Michael jumping another easy clear on the Chacco Blue/Con 10-year-old to slot into fourth 1.31 sec in arrears of the winning time.  France dominated with Julien Epaillard taking victory on Usual Suspect d’Auge by 0.74 sec from fellow Frenchman Nicolas Delmotte with Tlex VP.  Jess Mendoza and Toy Boy dropped out of contention with four in round one and finished 20th.   

 

Ben Maher posted a double clear on the Winningmood eight-year-old Winning Good for fifth in the 3* 1.45m.  Stuart Neads finished eighth with clear and four on Lordanos Junior and one time fault in round one put Jack Whitaker and Valentin R into 15th and William Whitaker 16th on Ilusionata Van’t Meulenhof. 

 

Joe Clee jumped the 14-year-old Alzu Ohio into fourth in the 99-strong 2* 1.40m, finishing 0.96 sec behind the winner. Brother and sister Harry and Sienna Charles picked up ninth and 10th with Vivaldi Du Dom and Chaitanya 2, and Harry also claimed 13th aboard Darius. Scarlett Charles was also double clear for 18th on Sacree Du Rouet. 

Joe was also third in the 2* 1.35m on the Ugano Sitte eight-year-old mare Juicy VV, 0.74 sec behind the pace. Flo Norris eased Songe De Toscane into 10th and also double clear was Sam Hutton on Indra’s Twinkeling and Jessica Mendoza’s Sam De Bacon for 22nd and 25th.  

Flo also claimed seventh in the 1* 1.15m on Imago VD Heffinck almost six sec behind the winner with British-based South African Charles Luyckx eighth on Balios Ar Park. Also double clear was Emily Mason on Ferox B and Jess Mendoza with NP Zelah for 14th and 20th. 

Ellie Hall-McAteer recorded victory in the pony 1.30m grand prix on the feisty 19-year-old Tixylix, winning by 1.32 sec. Clear and four in the seven-pony decider dropped Allana Clutterbuck and Sultan Du Bary to seventh. Sienna returned on four faults in round one to put Magic Cornflakes into 11th. 

Sienna picked up sixth in the pony 1.10m on the Cevin Z/Billy Congo seven-year-old Billy Wish, one time fault preventing the pair from contending the jump-off. 

 

Ellie also claimed second with the scopey Kannan mare Dazzle, beaten by 1.02 sec in the 101-strong 1* 1.30m. Ashlee Harrison jumped into sixth on Beaufort III eight sec in arrears and British-based Ella Quigley riding for Ireland took 19th on F.

 

 

Ireland’s Peter Maloney – based in Britain with Team Harmony – posted clear and four in the seven-year-old to finish fifth on Compelling Z (Chellano Z/Carthago Z). Jack Whitaker took 12th with clear and eight on Arlo De Blondel. 

Michael Whitaker popped Leonardo into sixth in the six-year-old 1.30m, 1.89 sec behind the pace. Clear and four dropped Emma Stoker’s Cool Cash down to 13th. 

In the six-year-old 1.25m, Peter eased the President/Diamant De Semilly stallion Federal TH into 10th and Jack claimed 12th on Betty with Ashlee Harrison 13th aboard Larcotique Van Den Dael. 

Four faults kept the Brits out of the top 10 in the Ladies 3* 1.45m wth Emily Moffitt finishing 11th on Zagahorn and Emma Stoker picked up 13th with Tendresse Du Fort.
