Morgann Henderson is one step closer to HOYS
Morgann Henderson outpaced all to top the hotly contended silver league qualifier at Arena UK with SSH Leagh. It brings the duo one step closer to fulfilling Morgann’s ambition to qualify for HOYS.
Of the 34 who originally started in this class, Morgann found the quickest route with the seven-year-old Leagh.
Morgann, 16, who is based at Stainsby Grange in Teeside, is currently studying for GCSE’s, riding every morning on the Luidam/Orame mare bought 12 months ago from trainer Peter Allen, before revising.
The partnership has clocked up wins at Foxhunter and 1.10m level, qualifying for the Royal Highland and the British Showjumping winter amateur final at the first attempt. They finished fifth in the Addington winter silver league final at the championships. Recent wins and points gained in the league prompted Morgann, who also triumphed in the 1.15m here, to tackle the silver league qualifier. They now have their sights set firmly on the semi finals – and that coveted ticket to HOYS.
Nikki Freeman on Julie Squire’s eight-year-old mare Kimgarwyn Bramble Boo jumped into second place with Mark Thompson and the Irish-bred 15-year-old Caddy Stroller taking third.
Kerrie Goodwin headed the Horseware bronze qualifier with Roscoes Golani, a 21-year-old by Animo who joined Kerrie seven years ago.
Alice Ellison picked up second in this 50-strong class on the eight-year-old mare Elsalinda S with Chloe Coward claiming the third qualifying spot on the Der Senaat five-year-old H Blokx – winner of the Blue Chip discovery final in April.
Sophie Corney hit a purple patch, claiming four wins over the weekend with her pair of consistent winners. The 21-year-old mare Ocean Breeze notched up a hat-trick in the 90cm and two Dodson & Horrell 95cm qualifiers, and the 17-year-old Stanhopes Diddicoy daughter Stanhopes Good Friday claimed a Dodson and Horrel 1.05m.
Hannah Vincent clocked up a double of British novice wins with the six-year-old mare Banana Fluff and the five-year-old Banana Blizzard.
