Jemma Kirk is denied a win by a tiny fraction in Lisbon

Jemma Kirk slotted the 10-year-old Tchoupi Pironniere into second in the 1.40m speed in Lisbon 3*, Portugal. They finished just 0.09 sec behind the winner, Portugal’s Duarte Seabra on Axelle M Z. Aimee Jones jumped a steadier clear on Lilly for 14th. Also coming home with clean sheets but finishing down the order was Tim Wilks on Jezebel and Emily Moffitt with MTF Madame X.

Jemma was also in the mix in the 1.45m, taking seventh in this two-phase competition on the 11-year-old Carbani (Carolus II/Baloubet Du Rouet), 3.22 sec behind the pace. Four faults in phase two dropped Ireland’s David Simpson and Starfighter to 16th.

A quiet round in the 1.50m speed in a run before the Nations Cup on Friday put Aimee and and the 13-year-old Never Last into 15th. Four faults dropped Emily and Harriri into 23rd.
