Laura Renwick is a fraction away from winning the 4* 1.45m in France

Laura Renwick was just 0.24 sec off winning the 4* world ranking 1.45m in Bourg en Bresse, France, with MHS Washington.

The 66 starters yielded 16 clears for a hotly-contended jump-off, with Laura and the highly-rated OBOS Quality nine-year-old Washington slotting into second place. Nicole Pavitt and Shahenaz – six-bar winners the day before – broke the beam just one hundredth of a sec behind Laura, but a rail on the floor dropped them to seventh. British-based Irishman Anthony Condon also jumped for clear and four on Zira VH Kapelhof Z for 12th. Belgium’s Gudrun Pateet picked up the win on Sea Coast Ideo d’O. Yazmin Pinchen returned on four faults with Van De Vivaldi.

France’s Mathieu Billot topped the feature 4* 1.60m grand prix in a five-horse decider on Shiva D’Amaury with a 0.75 sec advantage over Ireland’s Mark McCauley and Miebello. Anthony and Balzac came home on five faults in round one to drop out of contention.

Ireland’s Shane Breen claimed seventh in the 4* 1.40m accumulator with a maximum score on Ars Vivendi nine-year-old CSF Vendi Cruz, finishing two sec behind the pace. Yazmin eased the Con Air 12-year-old Con Chilli right behind into eighth in the 37-strong class.
