Ben Maher is winning good

Ben Maher moved up a gear on new ride Winning Good to head the 1.40m on the final day of the Global Champions tour of Madrid. The Winningmood/Sir Corland eight-year-old had showed great promise with previous rider Sophie Fawcett – finishing second in the HOYS talentseekers final – and is flourishing under Ben’s skilful expertise. Here, they took the win with 1.76 sec to spare.

Alicia Store rode into third and fourth in the 1.15m on the 10-year-old Capellini II and the 13-year-old Uriko Van Sint Antoniushoeve, some four and half sec behind the pace.

In the 1.25m, Tess Carmichael clinched sevent hon the 16-year-old Unique III with Jane Davies also posting a clear on the seven-year-old Cipriani for ninth. Tess was also penalty-free on second ride Bangle SR for 13th.

Israel’s Daniel Bluman headed the 1.50/1.55m by just a tenth of a sec on Bacara d’Archonfosse from Belgium’s Pieter Devos with Apart.
