Jonathan Dixon landed a handsome win Lier’s 2* 1.30m in Belgium, on the 11-year-old Gantico (Canturo/Darco). The pair raced ahead to win by an incredible 11 sec. Joe Clee slotted the seven-year-old Favorito (Indoctro/Habsburg) into sixth and also picked up 14th with a steadier round on Carrick.
Jonathan eased into third on the 10-year-old Diamant De Semilly daughter Zaligra H in the 1* 1.20m speed, 1.52 sec behind the pace. Declan Irvine was close behind in fourth aboard the Zandeur 10-year-old Zandeur Clover with Rebecca Ravilious fifth on Billy Macbeth.
William Whitaker moved the Zurich eight-year-old Junior Van Het Hulst up a gear to take fifth in the 2* 1.40m speed to finish just 0.62 sec behind the winner. Declan Irvine was also clear on the Lupicor nine-year-old Mystic Independence for 11th. Paul Kennedy posted a steadier round on EIS Isaura for 20th. Also returning clean sheets but finishing down the order in this 83-strong class was Ashlee Harrison on Toupie Du Quesnoy and Nick Benterman with Adorus.
Sally Hopkinson slotted the eight-year-old Vigaro/Quasimodo Z mare Etahgravin into third in the 2* 1.35m, finishing more than eight sec behind the pace.
Nick was best Brit in the world ranking 2* 1.45m grand prix qualifier, finishing in 17th with clear and four on the Corland 14-year-old Zorland D.
Paul Kennedy guided Destiny Second Life Z (Diamant De Semilly/Cassini I) into 11th in the seven-year-old speed with Sally Hopkinson 12th on Fadograaf (Vigaro/Quasimodo) and Declan Irvine was 14th on Fendiela.
